

Rev. William Marvin Shelton, 83, of Windermere, FL died November 6th following a short illness. Marvin, born on May 6, 1936 in Owensboro, Kentucky, son of Silas William Shelton and Dora Powell, was the beloved husband of 64 years to Joy Shelton. He is survived by his wife Joy and his four children Debby Aldridge, Jeffrey Shelton, Brian Shelton, and Cheryl Sims. Other survivors include his grandchildren Jaymi Hohler, Jeffrey Shelton, Kyle Sims, Justin Aldridge, Cory Sims, Ashleigh Irwin, Katie Joy Sims, and Brandon Shelton as well as 9 great grandchildren, and foster son Master Gunnery Sgt Billy Campbell, wife Brenda and daughters Cassidy and Caitlyn.
At 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War attaining the rank of Sergeant. Despite not finishing high school, he received his Bachelors from Indiana State University and a Masters of Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Marvin dedicated his life to the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, serving as a home missionary, a pastor, and a minister of education for Southern Baptist churches across the country. Even after his retirement, Marvin continued to serve in churches teaching Sunday School and preaching when called upon. Marvin lived a life of love and faithfulness and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a viewing at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha on Friday, November 11, 2016 from 6-9pm and the funeral service will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 10am at Starke Lake Baptist Church.
