Catherine Ann Hastings

HASTINGS, Catherine Ann, “Cathy” age 87, of Grand Blanc, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Huron Valley Hospital. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 12:00PM Monday, February 23, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11802 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. Fr. Jonathan Perrotta celebrant. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc. Visitation will be 3:00PM-7:00PM Sunday at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. A rosary will be prayed 6:00PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial Donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org)

Cathy was born April 9, 1927 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Joseph and Inez (Markey) Culton. She married Gordon Mosher Hastings on September 12, 1949 at St. Benedict Church and he preceded her in death on September 12, 1999 after 50 years of marriage. She was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Rita’s Guild and St. Joseph Auxiliary (Genesys Volunteers). She also was active at the Grand Blanc Senior Center, Granda Club, Flint Art Institute and Vis-A Vis Womens Group.

In her leisure time, Cathy enjoyed playing tennis and golf, especially at Genesee Hills. She loved dance, music and art, especially watercolor painting. In the later years she kept busy by playing Bingo and enjoying the good company of friends and family during her time at Abbey Park. She was loved dearly by her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and will be fondly remembered as “Grandma Hastings”

Surviving are her three daughters, Suzanne Warren (Forest), Karen Schultz (Stephen) and Stephanie Chlan (Perry); seven grandchildren, Joel, Joshua, Andrea, Emily, Max, Natalie and Kelly; 7 great-grandchildren, Cash, Briggs, Zain, Parker, Dixon, Piper and Greyson; sister, Joan Bogart. Cathy was also preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Small.
