Charles S. Mack III, of Grand Blanc, former resident of Battle Creek, passed away peacefully on September 29th, at the age of 51. Charlie was a graduate of Penfield High School class of 1984. He moved to Detroit and worked in the construction field for many years. In 1994, he reacquainted with Sandy Hanna at their 10-year class reunion and a few years later they were married. They have two children, Taylor (18) and Mallory (15). Charlie and Sandy have been married for 22 years and currently reside in Grand Blanc. They enjoyed walking their dogs, going to the movies and eating Sandy’s home cooked desserts. Charlie worked at PCE Monarch as a project manager since 2002. The colleagues/friends he made at his job will miss his work ethic, his optimistic outlook and dedication to his job. Anyone who knew Charlie, knew how much he loved his family. Charlie’s proudest accomplishments were his children Taylor and Mallory. Taylor enjoyed many of the same interests as Charlie. Charlie appreciated Taylor’s ability to play all sports and Charlie found joy in coaching Taylor’s teams through the years. Their love of sports inspired Charlie to help establish lacrosse in Grand Blanc. Charlie enjoyed painting Mallory’s nails and even let her paint his nails after. Taking Mallory to the father/daughter dances and watching her at her dance recitals were his greatest joys. One-on-one chats with his kids is what Charlie relished the most. This was his favorite part of the day. Charlie was a brother to Cheryl Mack-LaBounty, and Jack (Paula) Mack. Jack and Charlie enjoyed watching sporting events on tv together while saying nothing. Charlie and his sister Cheryl had a very special relationship, the older they got the closer they became. They spoke daily, often many times a day. Charlie’s mom, Joyce, was also especially close to her son. She was very proud of the man he had become, on being a dad, a husband, a brother, and a son. Charlie was a brother-in-law to Theresa (Barth) Wilson, Randy (Ellen) Hanna, and Jerry (Michelle) Hanna and was a fun-loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed spending time with Ron and Martha Hanna, his in-laws, at their house on St. Mary’s Lake where many hours were spent creating great family memories. He had a love of cars – especially the Ford Mustang. He was a proud owner of a 1968 Convertible Ford Mustang. Charlie will be remembered for his infectious laugh, wonderful sense of humor, and most of all his love for his family. Something Charlie would have requested that you say “Cheers to Charlie” when you have your next drink (preferably a Bud Light). A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 11:30 A.M. with visitation from 10am – 11:30am prior to the service at Hill Funeral Home – 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, Michigan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 5pm-8pm at Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the American Cancer Society: www.cancer.org or Humane Society of Genesee: [email protected].
