

Wallin, Charles 12/18/1926 - 7/4/2015 Grand Blanc Charles William Wallin age 88 of Grand Blanc, MI passed on the morning of Saturday, July 4th from natural causes. Charles was born Dec. 18th, 1926, in Milwaukee, WI. He graduated from Flushing High School in 1945, lettering in 4 sports. He joined in the war effort, enlisting into the Naval Air Force, serving as a side gunner in World War II on a PB-Y until 1946. He reached the rank of Aviation Ordnanceman Third Class V6. He attended Flint Community College where he played as a guard on the basketball team. He then went on to attend Michigan State University and graduated with a Masters Degree in Education. Charles taught history and coached basketball and football for over 40 years. He started at Clio in 1951, followed by Manderville, Ainsworth, Carman and finally Carman-Ainsworth High School. Charlie taught the community swim program for 25 years at Carman and Carman-Ainsworth. Charles was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where he served as a trustee and then Faith Lutheran Church. He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. Charles was preceeded in death by his parents Charles and Elsie Wallin, as well as his sister Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Caroline, along with his 3 children, Rebecca, Charles and Jennifer. He is further survived by his grandchildren Katie and Kyle. Visitation will be at Hill Funeral Home in Grand Blanc on Wednesday, July 15th, from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc on Thursday, July 16th at 12:00 pm. Followed by Interment at Great Lakes Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
