

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Clarence "Butch" Henry Hengesbach III, age 74, on July 22, 2025, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A distinguished Vietnam veteran, avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast, and lover of gardening, Mr. Hengesbach's life was characterized by dedication, enthusiasm, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Born on March 15, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Hengesbach honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. His military service instilled in him a profound sense of loyalty, resilience, and quiet fortitude, qualities that defined his character throughout his life.
Upon returning home, Mr. Hengesbach found solace and joy on the open road. He was an enthusiastic Harley-Davidson rider, relishing the experience of long rides and the camaraderie of fellow riders. In addition to his passion for motorcycles, Mr. Hengesbach found contentment in his garden, where he cultivated a sense of peace and fulfillment. He also enjoyed backyard barbecues and tinkering with cars.
Mr. Hengesbach is survived by his daughters, Sheila and Michele (Keith), his grandchildren Mishel (James), Devon, Brian, and Haley, and his siblings Beverly, Rita, Charles (Pamela) Hengesbach, and Jacqueline Walters. Plus many grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Grace Hengesbach.
Burial will be at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
