

MARTIN-WIRGAU, Eleanor (Lyden), age 81, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010, in the home of her daughter. Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Road, Grand Blanc. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Monday from 5 to 8 pm and Tuesday from 11 to 8 pm. Eleanor was born June 16, 1929 in Flint, daughter of the late Lawrence and Barbara Lyden and had attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. Eleanor married Harold “Lee” Martin in 1949 and had two daughters. She was employed with the Grand Blanc Community Schools for over 30 years. She was a custodian mainly at Myers and Cook, where she was fondly known as “Miss Lucy”. Following Lee’s death in 1990, Eleanor married Louis Wirgau. She was a lifetime member of VFW post 822 and a daily visitor to Courtyard Restaurant and its subsequent eateries. She loved to dance but even more she loved her granddaughter. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her sisters Irene McCloud and Fern LaPenes, and her brothers, Tip, Lawrence and Phillip Lyden. She is survived by her daughters Pamela Sexton Donlan and husband Tim, and Carol Martin, her granddaughter, Jessica LeeAnn Sexton, and her husband Louis Wirgau.
