

COOK, George Allen ‘Al’, of Grand Blanc, age 92, died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:30 a.m. to time of service. Allen was born in Oelwein, Iowa on August 17, 1917, son of the late Rollin and Beth Cook. He served in WW II in Naval Intelligence and was stationed in Puerto Rico. Allen retired from AC Spark Plug in 1975 after being employed as an accountant for 36 years. He married Beth Briggs on September 14, 1940 in Flint, Michigan. Allen enjoyed reading, travelling, and socializing. He especially enjoyed train trips throughout North America with his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years Beth Cook. Cherished father of Peter Briggs (Joanne) Cook, George Allen Cook, Jr., and Chapin Warner (Gail) Cook. Dear grandfather of Daisy, Patrick, Elizabeth, and Sylvia Pfeiffenberger, Brad (Kristen) Rhoades, and Leif Devine. Also survived by great grandchildren Caden and Liam Rhoades, brother Gardner Chapin Cook, brother-in-law Rodney Davis (Rosie) Briggs, nephews Guy and Phil Briggs, and nieces Elizabeth Cook Stamm and Virginia Cook.
