Gregory Sweeney

SWEENEY, Gregory, age 66, passed away March 24, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday, March 28, 2014 at Faith Lutheran Church, 12534 Holly Road, Grand Blanc, MI. Visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI and at church from 11 a.m. Friday until time of services. Greg was born on September 2, 1947 in Detroit, MI to Thomas and Pauline Sweeney. He was active at his current church, Faith Lutheran of Grand Blanc, and his former church, St. John Lutheran Church of Rochester, MI., as well as at numerous churches during the time that the family lived in Texas, Wisconsin, and various areas of Michigan. Greg’s family was the most important part of his life and he liked telling stories about his family to others. He liked spending time hunting, fishing, and planning family reunions. In previous years he enjoyed traveling to Arizona, California, and his favorite place recently was Petoskey, MI. Physical fitness, maintaining a rigorous exercise routine, and making investment decisions was a joy for him to do. Gregory is survived by his loving wife, Linda, who he married in 1968; Children, Scott (Amy) Sweeney of Grand Rapids, MI and Patrick (Pamela) Sweeney of Mineral Ridge, OH; grandchildren, Katee, Alexander, Ashley, and Megan; and brothers, Garrett, Grant, Glenn and Graham. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Geoff. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Hurley Medical Foundation or the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
