Lloyd was born June 19, 1924 in Sawyer, WI, son of the late Mathew and Della (Holdorf) Blahnik. He was a Sgt in the U.S. Army Air Force serving as a medic from 1943 to 1946. Lloyd married LaVerne D. Hackert shortly after being introduced by their grandmothers who were close friends. Lloyd and LaVerne shared 67 years of loving marriage. Lloyd worked for General Motors from 1952 to 1979, and was very active in the community. He coached Little League in the early 1960s, served as the Mayor of Goodrich, MI in the 1970s, and was a school bus driver in the 1980s. He also volunteered as an elections precinct clerk for Polk County Florida until 2010. Lloyd and LaVerne enjoyed many cruises after retirement and participated in Elder Hostel classes. As a teenager, he played the trumpet and continued to do so as an adult. He planned the entertainment for many high school reunions with two close buddies. Lloyd was an avid card player who took great pleasure in playing Pinochle and Sheepshead with his friends, Euchre with his family, and Skipbo with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The church was an important part of his life with LaVerne; he sang in the choirs, was a Sunday School Superintendent at Christ Lutheran, Goodrich, and a church Elder at St. Paul Lutheran, Lakeland FL where he was a longtime member. They joined Faith Lutheran, Grand Blanc after moving back to Michigan in 2011 to be closer to family.
