

Marjorie “Jean” Dunn, age 105, went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2016. She was born on November 7, 1910 in Keyser, Ontario to parents Berton and Ethel Herrington. Jean moved to Grand Blanc in 1950. She was a charter member of Holy Family Catholic Church where she was very active and played the organ for many years. Playing the organ and the piano was a cherished hobby of Jean’s, and she played up until a few weeks before she passed. Jean had many friends and was loved by many people. She will be remembered for her wit, kind heart, and generosity. Jean was the oldest of nine children and is survived by her youngest brother, James (Donalda) Herrington, and several other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer L. Carlyon, and later her husband, James “Alex” Dunn; siblings: Madge Vogel, Neva Davis, Helen Holzer, Mary Schiller, Betty Epskamp, Trueman “Pete” Herrington, and Robert Herrington. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Genesee Care Center, and to Jean’s special caregiver, Rita. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Holy Family Catholic Church or the Grand Blanc Community Foundation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church (11804 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc). Monsignor Jerry Vincke celebrating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to mass, beginning at 9:30am. Interment will be at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
