On September 23, 2018, Mary Ruth Meeker died peacefully at the age of 95. She will be forever loved, remembered and missed by her son Ronald Meeker and daughter-in-law Mary, grandson Jeffrey Meeker and granddaughter-in-law Carylon, granddaughter Julie Londrigan and grandson-in-law Ryan, and great grandchildren Lillian, Livia and James Londrigan. She also leaves behind several special friends whose friendship meant the world to her. Mary Ruth was born on April 25, 1923 in Champaign, Illinois. She married Marion Meeker (WWII Navy veteran) on April 11, 1941. They moved to Flint, Michigan in 1956 when Marion accepted a teaching position with Mott Community College. Mary Ruth was a devoted stay at home mother. She and her husband celebrated 70 years of marriage before Marion’s death in 2011. Mary Ruth was known for her sweet nature, quick wit, fun-loving personality, and her ability to stay young beyond her years. Everyone who met her adored her. She loved making people feel special whether by knitting them one of her signature wash cloths, sharing one of her pretty flower bouquets, or baking them a plate of cookies. She loved to spend time with her family, play with her great grandchildren, spoil her grand-dogs, go out to eat, and watch the Detroit Tigers. She never said no to chocolate or ice cream. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private burial at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of The Oaks at Woodfield whose love, kindness and care is deeply appreciated.
