
Melvin was born to the late Walter and Maxine (Rogers) Holdorf in Flint, Michigan on April 10, 1946. For a number of years, Melvin proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He retired from General Motors after many dedicated years of service. Melvin was known as an avid sports enthusiast and he loved his grandchildren immensely.
Melvin leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Stephania Welch (Randy Stinson) and Holly Gordon; grandchildren Keli and Charley Welch, Rhiannon and Waylon Gordon and Gunner Hyder; great-grandchild Quinn; and sisters Dee Hart and Pamela Thompson.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and brothers.
A visitation for Melvin will be held Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hill Funeral Home - 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI 48439. A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Hill Funeral Home at 12:00 PM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Pastor Jason Dover will officiate the service. Melvin will be laid to rest at Crestwood Cemetery in Grand Blanc, MI with Military Honors.
