

Paulina G. McLane age 91, went to be with her Lord on March 9, 2017. She was born in San Jose, California to Merrill and Mabel Howard on June 14, 1925. She had two siblings – Helen (Vogel) and Donald Howard. The family moved to Kansas and later to Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated from high school. She met and married Bernard L. Gill on July 7, 1944. The newlyweds moved to Plymouth, MI where daughters Jeanette and Ellen were born. The family then moved to Chicago Heights, IL in 1950 so that Bernard could study for the ministry. Their first pastorate brought them to Tecumseh, MI where they started a Nazarene church. In 1957 the family moved to pastor the West Flint Church of the Nazarene. Daughter Annette was added to the family there. In 1965 while Bernard pastored South Flint Church of the Nazarene, the couple adopted brothers, Jeff and David. During all of the pastorates, Paulina worked in various clerical positions, as well as performing all the duties of a pastor’s wife. In 1968 the couple started a non-denominational church – Colonial Village Church. After Bernard’s death in 1974, Paulina began working as a caseworker for the Department of Social Services for the State of Michigan. She retired after 15 years of service there. She married Glen McLane on June 3, 1978, adding two grown daughters to her family – Mary Ellen and Glenna. The couple was involved in various ministries for 30 years in the life of Central Church of the Nazarene. Besides being preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husbands, she was also preceded by daughter Annette (Ken) Schwind. Paulina is survived by daughters, Jeanette (Jim) Pettitt and Ellen (Sheldon) Weinstock; sons, Jeff (Meg) Gill and David (Debra) Gill; step-daughters, Mary Ellen (Ron) Loafman and Glenna (Russ) Perry. With her extended family, Paulina is survived by 24 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held March 25, 2017 at College Church of the Nazarene in Olathe, KS. Visitation is at 1:00 pm with the service at 2:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on April 1, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home in Grand Blanc, MI. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm with the service at 2:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Crestwood Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ministerial scholarships at MidAmerica Nazarene University or the American Red Cross in honor of her 25 years of volunteer service.
