Beloved Son, Brother, Veteran, and Friend
Scott Goodman, age 41, of Clayton, Michigan, passed away tragically in a house fire on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
Scott was the beloved middle son of the late Daniel and Sharon (Dunkel) Goodman. He is survived by his older brother Mark (Anne), his younger brother Eric, his nephew Cody, and niece Katlyn. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and fellow U.S. Marine Corps brothers-in-arms including Corporal Carlos E. Gil-Orozco, and all others that have passed before him.
Scott proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 2002 to 2006 on active duty and continued his commitment in the reserves from 2006 to 2009. As a Combat Engineer and Infantryman, he served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, participating in regular combat missions. Prior to active combat duty, Scott served in Okinawa Japan, Yuma Arizona, and Jacksonville North Carolina.
Following his military service, Scott transitioned into the manufacturing industry, where he spent the past 15 years building a reputation for hard work and dependability. He most recently worked at Rima Manufacturing in Hudson, Michigan—his favorite employer—where he was known as a reliable and dedicated employee. He also brought his skills to L&W Engineering in Blissfield, and earlier, worked as a welding shop hand at MDG Custom Welding, a business run by his brother Mark.
Scott will be remembered for his avid love for firearms, often joking he was going out in an explosion, strong work ethic, and unwavering loyalty to his fellow veterans. His loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege to know, work, and serve along side him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Hill Funeral Home in Grand Blanc, Michigan. The family will receive guests beginning 2:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friends, coworkers, and fellow service members are encouraged to share stories and memories in Scott’s honor prior to formal military honors by the Honor Guard at 6:00 p.m.
In remembrance of Scott’s service and spirit, the family invites donations in his name to the Semper Fi Fund.
Semper Fidelis, Scott. Your service, your laughter, and your presence will never be forgotten.
