GEARING, CEDRIC SYDNEY “SYD” age 84, died Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the University of Michigan Hospital. Memorial Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 18. 2013 at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, MI. Pastor Glen Grant officiating. Family will receive visitors from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. before the Service. Syd was born August 10, 1928 at the Women's Hospital in Flint, MI. to parents Cedric Cameron Gearing, immigrant from South Africa, and Lena (Winehouse) Gearing, immigrant from Russia. He served in the U.S. Navy and then completed a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at MSU. He worked for A.C. Spark Plug as a Production Engineer, retiring in 1983. Syd was an excellent mechanic who enjoyed riding his Harley Davison, and later his bicycles. Surviving are, the love of his life, wife Loucetria (Rose) of 55 years; devoted children Alicia (Dan) McHugh and Cameron Gearing; sister Geraldine George; brother Charles Gearing; 8 nieces and nephews, and their husbands, wives and children. He was a loving grandfather to Jas and Emma McHugh.
