

Veota Lola (Henery) Arens passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 in Grand Blanc, MI: age 88: longtime resident of Clawson. She was born October 23, 1931 to Glenn and Annie (Roy) Henery in Lebo, KS. Veota graduated from Emporia High School. Loving Wife of Richard (Dick) who preceded her in death in 2009 and sister to Venetta (Henery) Bayless who preceded her in death in 2011: dear mother to Pam Ledbury (Dan) and Glenn Arens (Denise): cherished Grammy to Carissa Arens, Tom VanStory, Felicia Wheeler (Matt), Zach VanStory, Natasha Arens, Sarah Arens, and Glenn J. Arens and Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Arens was a stay at home mom who loved crocheting and spending time with her friends of whom she had many. Mrs. Arens grew up on a farm outside Lebo, Ks where she helped where she could in bringing in the cattle for milking along with other chores. Veota had a horse, Queenie, who she developed a very special bond with while growing up. She married her lifelong love whom she met being a pen pal to while he served in the Army. Upon his completing his tour in Korea, he was stationed at Camp Leavenworth and they began what was to become a lifelong friendship and love. They married on May 23, 1953 in Emporia, KS. In her later years, she enjoyed the theater immensely and was a member of Meadowbrook Theater and ushered for years at the Fox, Gem, and various other theaters. She had a reputation as a caring neighbor and a loving friend. She was an active member of Royal Oak Unity Church for many years and later of Rochester Unity. She also was an active member of the Theosophical Society and truly enjoyed the study of various religions. Veota will be missed.
