William Louis Benson

BENSON, William L. – of Grand Blanc, age 80, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Saginaw. Private committal services will be held at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Mr. Benson was born June 17, 1934 in Flint, Michigan the son of the late Louis I. and Jane McAulay Benson. Mr. Benson was the first All State Athlete from Grand Blanc High School. He also was an All Conference Basketball player at Flint Junior College in 1954. He served as an M.P. in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. Mr. Benson had served as the President of the Grand Blanc Board of Education and on the Board of Directors of United Way. He also had been a member of the Grand Blanc Township Planning Commission. Surviving are: 4 children, Melissa Blair Benson, Wm. Clark Benson and wife Diane Pastor, Mark Benson and wife Meghan, and Brandon Alex Benson; 4 grandchildren, Tyler, Axel, Zoe, and Xander; 2 sisters, Jane Spencer and Barbara Benson; and special friend, Dolores Rosenberg.
