Alyce (Large) Morgan Davis
January 27, 1934 - May 21, 2015
Born in LaJunta, CO to Merle and Edith Large, Alyce was preceded in death by her parents, and step-father, Jeffrey Johnson.
She graduated from Herren Junior High School, LaJunta in 1948, and Central High School, Pueblo, CO in 1952. In later years, she attended Mesa College, Grand Junction, CO. In the 1970's she was a Girl Scout Leader also in Grand Junction. Alyce received her wings on May 21, lifting her to a new heavenly home. She is now walking and dancing, enjoying a peaceful after life. She rejected the term ""handicapped"" in her daily life, accepting with dignity, a challenging life style, surrounded by many loving and supportive friends. Alyce lived an amazing life by defying medical science and extending her time here on Earth.
As a member of First Baptist Church, she found comfort from the visits of the home ministry group. She served on the Board of Directors of Walnut Park Tenants Association, planning social events and calling bingo every Friday. She was a 56 year member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, she served on many committees and held many offices. Many very dear and cherished friendships developed during these years.
Alyce was an avid reader and also enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, making many beautiful gifts for family and friends. She enjoyed attending concerts sponsored by Mesa County Concert Association and traveling to Denver for a performance by Garth Brooks.
Alyce is survived by four children, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She will be missed by friends and family.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life and memorial will be held Saturday, June 27, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Walnut Park Community Hall, 2200 Block of North 17th Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HopeWest Hospice.
