

Barbara Hannah was born on November 8, 1924 to John and Mary Hopfinger in Bridgeport Washington. She graduated from Brewster High School (Washington State) and attended Western Washington College of Business in Wenatchee, Washington, and Bryan University, Dayton, Tennessee. Over the years she worked as an accountant and as a secretary for various companies in Washington state, Oklahoma, and Colorado.
In 1970 she began a career working as a civilian for the Department of Defense and after 26 years, retired from Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, Colorado, as Supervisor, Medical Transcription.
The most important things in her life were her faith, family, and friends. She lived for most of her life in Colorado, which she loved very much. She enjoyed hiking, camping, dry fly fishing, and crafts. She was very interested in the study of history, especially southwestern history and geology.
Preceded in death are husbands Nolan Brooks, Gene Short, David Hannah, sister Betty Cornelius and daughter Charlene (Boden) Hannah. She leaves behind son Karleton (Shirley) Short and daughter, step-daughters Katherine (Charles Woodward) Hannah and Christine (Russell) Scheinberg; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Angela (Peter) Ivanoff, Jason (Kenyan) Short, Brendan (Lindsey) Kayne and Ashleigh (Christian) L'Orange, Jonathan Boden, David Froehlich, Stacy (Garrick) Parker, and Monika and Dovid Scheinberg; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She is survived by nephew Eric (Audrey) Cornelius and nieces Laura Cornelius and Kathleen (Brian) Johnson as well as two great nieces and one great nephew.
A viewing for Barbara will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 at 5:00 PM at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary & Crematory, 2515 Patterson Rd., Grand Junction, Colorado 81505. A graveside service will occur Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM at New Elmwood Cemetery, 1175 17 1/4 Road, Fruita, CO 81521.
