Betty Jean Sage

Betty Jean Sage October 31, 1925 - July 5, 2015Jean Sage passed away at HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction, July 5, 2015. She was born in Elbing, Kansas to Richard and Marie (Turner) Gosnell. She was a resident of Grand Junction for 67 years. Jean married Herbert Sage October 7, 1946, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She worked in retail at JC Penney Co. until Herb retired, then she retired so they could spend winters in Scottsdale, AZ.Jean was an accomplished seamstress and for years made all her clothes for herself and her daughter, Karen. She crocheted numerous afghans. She lived in a time where girls took home economics in school and laughingly said she got A+ in sewing and D in cooking.Jean is survived by her daughter, Karen (Jack) Elsea of Battlement Mesa, CO; grandsons, Mark (Jodi) Elsea of Gordon, NE, and Joshua (Megumi) Elsea of Fort Belvoir, VA; great-grandchildren, Colten, Seth, and Madison Elsea of Gordon, NE; and Ana, Jestin, and Kyler Elsea of Fort Belvoir, VA.Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Marie Gosnell; her brother, Richard Gosnell, and her husband, Herb.A private family graveside service will be held at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens on Thursday, July 9, 2015.
