October 8, 1970 – March 29, 2026
Bobby (Bob) Reed passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family from respiratory issues related to spinal cord injuries.
Bob was born in Walsenburg, CO. His father was a diesel mechanic in the mining industry which took the family to Uravan, La Sal, and Moab, landing in Grand Junction CO in 1980. Growing up the family took special trips to see the country as well as spending time in the mountains of Colorado and Utah. This imprinted on Bob a love of all things outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. If he could be outside, he was, fishing, hunting, riding his bike, hanging out at the fire pit, or riding his four-wheeler with his hound dog Pete.
Bob met the love of his life Janika in 1991. Over the next five years they welcomed Daddy’s girl LeaShawn and his Bud Dewey into the fold of their family. He shared his love of fishing with both of them from the time they were born, taking them to the lakes and rivers to catch the next big fish. He had started to share this love with his oldest grandson Marlo. He was an old school master of the smoker, making the best smoked pork shoulder you could ever taste, and could grill anything. Bob was teaching himself to forge, making some amazing knives out of whatever he could find.
Bob experienced his first spinal cord injury in 2024. Though he couldn’t help, he did his best to impart his wisdom, patiently coaching Jan through how to sharpen knives, cut up an elk, and take over the grill. In 2025 Bob had a wheelchair accident that caused a second spinal cord injury, degrading his fragile health greatly. Through his declining health he still made sure we all knew we were loved completely, even more so than before. His granddaughter JD had him woven around her little fingers as tight as her Mom did, he stood no chance with her. He would talk to his grandson Levvy while he laid on his lap, getting him to coo and smile. Marlo was his helper and YouTube buddy, doing whatever he could to make Poppa comfortable.
Bob wasn’t a perfect man but he was a good man who loved deeply. At the end his Dad Leonard led him to Jesus, which brought Bob great peace. He is survived by his love Janika Harris, his girl LeaShawn (Taylor) Lee, his boy Dewey (Jordyne) Reed, grandbabies Marlo Reed, JD and Leviticus Lee, Dad and Mom Leonard and Bertha Reed, sisters Becky Quinn and Rhonda (Ed) Pastelak, as well as all of his sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and friends from childhood who have been steady through it all.
As per Bob’s wishes no services will be held. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Bob’s memory to The Craig Hospital Foundation or St Mary’s Hospital Foundation for all of the love,
support, and resources they provide. Without them and our families the last two years wouldn’t have been possible.
