Chance was born on October 20, 1990, to Shelly Ann Sanve (Stoner) and David Gene Collins at home in Sheridan, WY. His family relocated to New Castle, CO in 1992, where he grew up and attended school and participated in 4H. From the moment he could walk he always wanted to go fast and that never changed. He began his motorsport career on a 3-wheeler at a very young age and soon graduated to a dirt bike with the rest of his family. The household toaster or stereo were never safe from his inquisitive mind and urge to take them apart. Always sharing his latest project and plans with his mom.
Chance was a deeply loved father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, & friend. He took all these roles very seriously but was most proud of being a dad. He shared 3 amazing children, Chance (15), Violet (12), and Maryann (11), with Katherine Fazzi, and loved to boast on their latest accomplishments and skills. Chance displayed a constant example to them of extending a helping hand and offering to assist anyone in need at a moment’s notice. Whether the task was within his wheelhouse or not, he was always up for a challenge.
There wasn’t much Chance couldn’t do. As a mechanic by trade and lover of all things motorized, he loved to tinker, rebuild, and create something beautiful. Adding purple flares everywhere he went. Chance could swing a hammer and had a green thumb as made evident by the 50 plus trees that still surround his mom’s home. Even though he was the little brother, he never allowed his place in birth order to deter him from stepping up and playing an invaluable role in his siblings’ lives. From raising kids to riding motorcycles the bond between the 4 of them is immeasurable. His nephew Darrion says he will remember him as an Iron Giant.
Chance loved his family deeply & made friends everywhere he went. Even though his time on this earth was far too short, he made an unprecedented impact while he was here.
He is preceded in death by his father David Gene Collins, and grandmother, Betty Joan (Hale) Lambson.
He is survived by his children, Chance, Violet, and Maryann; his lifelong partner, Kathy; siblings, Thomas, Josh (Trisha), & Cammie; mother, Shelly; stepfather, Steve; grandmother, Shirley; and countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At this time the family will be holding a private service. A public celebration of life will be held at Happy Camp once weather permits this coming summer.
