Charlene Ann Mahoney, aged 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and with her beloved dog Rev on her lap on May 16, 2022. She was born in Denver, Colorado on February 16, 1942 to Floyd and Arlyne Geney Wright. Charlene grew up on Glade Park, Colorado ranching with her mother and stepfather, Kenneth Young. Although her family raised sheep, she fell in love with a cattle rancher named Dan Mahoney. He, in turn, fell in love with her. After an 18 day engagement they decided to elope. She married her soulmate on June 20, 1960 and her legacy began.
Charlene held a variety of jobs, the most recent being office manager at Amigo Animal Clinic. However, she would say her greatest job was that of wife and mother. Charlene and Dan raised four daughters LaCinda “Cindy” (Seth) Reddick, Vicki (John) Turman, Dana (Jim) Haas, Debbie (Randy) McLemore.
Charlene loved and cared for life whether it be gardening, riding her beloved horse Silver, or tending to baby lambs, calves, ducklings, bunnies and so many more critters. She always seemed to know just what to do. She also loved doing a variety of projects like crafting, sewing and painting beautiful pictures. We hold dearly to these treasures and memories.
Charlene was grandmother to 16 and great-grandmother to 13. She is preceded in death by her mother Arlyne, Joe Boucher (whom she considered her father), sister Floydette Escoubat, and grandson John Jr. (Buddy) Turman. Her family has planned a memorial of Charlene’s amazing life and invites you to join us in the potluck celebration on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 2:00 at the Glade Park Community Center. In lieu of flowers, Charlene would have appreciated donations to the Glade Park Community Center (mail to Glade Park Community Services PO Box 23162 Glade Park CO 81523) or Hope West/Hospice Grand Junction, in her memory.
