Leon Shy Combs, 83, Grand Junction, died Sept. 1, 2014, at his home.
A service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Combs was a cryptologist in the U.S. Navy and served in Guam; he was awarded the National Defense Service Award.
Survivors include one son, Michael; two daughters, Letitia Payton of Arvada and Dena Williams of St. Louis, Missouri; one sister, Shelia Archuleta of Lincoln, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
