On June 20th, 2024 our beloved wife, sister, mother, grandma, and friend was called home to be with her Savior. She was 68. Mom was born on November 22nd, 1955, in Paonia, Colorado to Don and Helen Truitt. She spent most of her childhood living in Somerset, Colorado where her dad worked in the coal mines and her mom ran the local store. She had fond memories of the time spent on the family ranch in Hotchkiss with her siblings. She attended Paonia Schools until her sophomore year of high school when the family moved to a ranch in De Beque, Colorado. It was there that she found her one true love, a man she would later marry in June of 1975. She passed away just one week before their 49th anniversary. Her career began right after she graduated high school and continued until the day she died.
After graduating high school, she began her career for the energy company OXY and continued working there for 17 years. At the time of her departure, she was one of the most trusted team members of the legendary CEO Armand Hammer. She was asked to continue her journey with Hammer but decided to stay close to home with her family. From there, Mom and a previous associate/close friend, Kay Kofford, started a natural resource company called EMRx, which was awarded the shale reclamation projects after the shale bust in the late 80’s. After completing that, she ran a trucking company with her husband Dave, managed a handful of companies out of Grand Junction, and eventually retired working side by side with her family at Gonzo, LLC where she was instrumental in its success. She was the hardest working woman to ever live.
She enjoyed living on her ranch along the Colorado River surrounded by all of her animals and perfecting the land she worked so hard for. The best chapter of her life began when she became a mother in 1981 and again in 1987. She loved being a mom and was the best to ever do it. She cared for her nieces and nephews as if they were her own until her last breath. The greatest reward ever given to her was becoming a grandma. Her grandkids became her entire world once they arrived and helped make her last years some of her best.
Mom left behind her devoted husband just shy of 49 years, Dave Graham of De Beque; Beloved son, Davey Graham (Amanda) of Grand Junction; Her best friend and daughter, Haylee Graham of Grand Junction; Two sisters, Tami Sandidge of De Beque and Sandy Lake of Grand Junction; Two brothers, Shane and Don Truitt both of De Beque; Her dear nieces, nephews, and friends; And the three she hated to leave the most, her precious grandkids, Phoenix, Brooks, and Finley Graham. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Helen Truitt.
Please join us to celebrate her life on July 20th, 2024 in the De Beque High School gymnasium at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please share your favorite memories of Mom on her Facebook page for her grandkids to read when they get older.
Mom will be forever missed and always in our hearts. A love like hers, is a love that will never ever part.
