

Dale was born on June 29th 1931 in Stroud, Oklahoma to John Everett and Elizabeth (Murfin) Payne. The family moved to California when Dale was six months old and he spent his childhood there, along with his five siblings. He graduated high school after the family moved to Missouri.
Upon graduating from high school Dale enlisted in the U. S. Army where he served in the Korean Conflict and fought in the battle at Pork Chop Hill.
Dale loved hunting and deep sea fishing in his earlier years. He also enjoyed traveling around the world, which he did quite often, in his career as an Electrical Engineer. He lived in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan and Columbia, in addition to his work in the United States. His wife, Jean, was able to accompany him on his assignments to Egypt and Columbia. They were also able to travel extensively while on vacations. Dale's favorite trip was to Kenya on a camera safari. This was a once in a lifetime trip which he remembered for the remainder of his life.
Dale is survived by his wife, Jean, of Montrose, Colorado., who he found great happiness with for almost 36 years. A brother Paul (Angie) Payne of Lincoln Ca., daughters, Perriann (Mark) McDonald of Nampa, Idaho, Karen Kelly of Grand Junction Co. and Kathleen Kelly of Fort Collins Co.. He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Dale was predeceased by his parents, four siblings, a son Shawn and a grandson, Austin.
Services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction, CO at 3:00 P.M.
Dale will be missed greatly by his family and his memory will never fade from our thoughts. Rest in the Arms of Jesus, your fight is over.
