Dale Andrew Riley, 93, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away July 20, 2022 at HopeWest Care Center, Grand Junction, CO. He was born in 1928 to John Thomas and Gertie (Hoopman) Riley and raised with 5 brothers in the Belle Fourche, SD area. Dale was married in 1951 to Rose Reddick and they had three children. He served his country in the army in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War, 1951-1953.
He was a man who loved interacting with people. Along with serving and lending a helping hand or making things for friends and family, he loved to prank, tell a joke or a good story. Dale liked to be on the go. He took his wife and family on lots of vacations, had a cabin at Iron Creek Lake, Black Hills, SD, and he thoroughly enjoyed joy rides with no intended destination.
His hard-working ethics started when he was a young boy doing chores with his brothers.
After living 62 years in the Belle Fourche, South Dakota area, Dale retired in 1989 from years of running his own service station, Dale’s 66, and then moved to Grand Junction, CO the fall of 1990 and resided there for 32 years.
He was blessed with a long life. He used to call it the “Life of Riley”. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas and Gertie (Hoopman) Riley and by five siblings. Garret (Buster), Willard, Gilbert, Harold and Irma (a sister who died as an infant).
Dale is survived by his wife and companion of 71 years, Rose Riley; two daughters, Linda Dyer, and Diane Garduna; one son, Randy Riley; one brother, Glenn Riley; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and many other beloved family and friends.
The Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard will honor Dale Riley with a military service on September 20, 2022 at 1:00 PM at The Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.
