It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Daniel "Dan" Shane Postoskie, who departed this life peacefully at his home in Grand Junction on October 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Dan was born on February 4, 1972, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, to Georgia Harms and John Postoskie Jr.
Dan and his mother, Georgia, were inseparable, truly each other's rocks. Dan affectionately called her "G Money" or "G," and they shared a special bond that included many cherished travel adventures together. Georgia often recounted a sweet memory from Dan's childhood: as a young boy, he would pull flowers, roots and all, from a newly planted garden bed just to present them to her, a gesture of love that often required her to secretly replant them. Growing up, Dan was an avid listener of bands like Slayer, Metallica, Gwar, Godsmack, KISS, and any other metal or hard rock band that was on the radio. His mother would playfully swear that playing a vinyl backward would surely conjure the Devil, a testament to their playful and enduring relationship.
Dan was a man of many passions and talents, deeply rooted in his love for restoration and art. He was renowned in the community for his exceptional skill in painting and powder coating vehicles, bringing them back to life. His artistic touch extended beyond cars to bicycles, motorcycles, and unique works of art. A notable achievement in his career was painting bicycles for Lance Armstrong for the prestigious Tour de France.
One of his most cherished projects was the restoration of his childhood family car, a 1969 Camaro, which he brought back to its former glory alongside his father, John. This shared endeavor deepened their bond and created lasting memories. Dan’s dedication to classic cars led him to numerous Car Shows, where his restored vehicles often earned top honors. In his younger years, Dan also enjoyed the thrill of racing cars with his father, John.
Beyond his automotive pursuits, Dan had a diverse range of interests. He was an avid photographer, spending countless hours exploring the mountains and capturing the breathtaking scenery through his lens. His professional journey also included roles as a talented Tattoo Artist, a Photographer, and a Window Tinter, among others, showcasing his versatile skills.
Dan was a collector, with a particular fondness for clocks, especially Cuckoo Clocks. His collections also included cars, bison/buffalo decor and skulls, coins, cameras, and any vintage item he could get his hands on, each piece telling a story of times gone by.
Even with a heart tuned for roaring engines, the open road, and a lifelong 'kid at heart' spirit, Dan always brought his world to a gentle halt for his cherished companions, his cats: Crazy, Rockstar, and Jojo.
Dan is survived by his beloved mother, Georgia “G” Harms of Grand Junction, CO; his devoted spouse, Kimberly Cary of Grand Junction, CO; his sister, Michelle Postoskie of Lander, WY, nephew Dillon Sharp of Lander, WY, niece Maranda Egnew (Eddie) of Saint Amant, LA; his brother, Sunstone Marchand, of Grand Junction, CO. He also leaves behind his aunts Lisa (Jerry) of Wesley Chapel, FL, Crystal Kennedy (David) of Odessa, FL, and uncles Kevin Postoskie (Julianne) of Odessa, FL, Raymond Postoskie of Tampa, FL, and Ted McKay (Monica) of Craig, CO. Dan was a loving stepfather to Valarie Cary and Candice Cary (Michael) of Grand Junction, CO, and Stormy Rivera (Gabriel) of Kissimmee, FL, and cherished grandfather to Daisy, Austin, Milana, Calliope, Gabriella, and Bailey. He is also survived by his special cousin, Chris Kuchyd, and many more uncles, aunts, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as his cats Rockstar and Jojo, and dog, Scooter.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, John Postoskie Jr.; his paternal grandfather, John Postoskie Sr.; his maternal grandmother, Minnie Cassingham; his maternal grandfather, Irving Denton; his cousin, Michael (Mickey) Denton; his stepfather, Ernesto Harms; his stepmother, Bonnie Postoskie, friend, Roger Martin, and the love of his life, his pet cat, Crazy.
A Celebration of Life will be held in June 2026, Dan’s favorite month, in Grand Junction, CO. This special gathering will take place in his newly built garage, a dream workshop gifted to him by his mother, which he had meant to paint cars in. After two years of construction, the family was able to turn on the lights for the very first time just a few hours before Dan passed away, making this garage incredibly special to him. It is only fitting to celebrate his life surrounded by his vintage cars and all of the people who love and cherish him, in the very space he poured his dreams into. More details will be released closer to June 2026.
His memory will be cherished by all who knew him and were touched by his creative spirit and generous heart.
