Darlene Thompson Rettig

Darlene Thompson Rettig, born October 4, 1934 to Kenneth and Roberta (Bertie) Varnon Thompson in Grand Junction, CO, went home to be with her Savior on November 12, 2023. Darlene graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1953. On August 22, 1954 Darlene married Walter Rettig of Grand Junction. Darlene was a member of the Clifton Garden Club for many years and loved to quilt. She was also involved for many years in Girl Scouts, the Rio Grande bowling team, and loved to travel. She was a member of the Patterson Road Church of Christ.

Darlene is survived by two daughters, Karen (Mike) Chalenburg of Searcy, AR and Debbie (Dean) Bennett of Henderson, NV; four grandchildren, three great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her husband of 55 years, Walter Rettig, one daughter, her parents, and two sisters preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Patterson Road Church of Christ with a visitation starting at 9:00 AM. A public visitation will take place on Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 4 - 6PM at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Disease Foundation at Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY 10008-0780, or HopeWest Hospice, 3090B N. 12th St., Grand Junction, CO 81506 or Patterson Road Church of Christ - 2893 Patterson Road, Grand Junction., CO 81506. Arrangements are under the direction of Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.
