November 14, 1951 - Sptember 20, 2015
David S. McDonald, age 63 of Fruita, Colorado passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015 in DeBeque, Colorado in an ATV accident.
David was born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado. He started a motorcycle business in his house in Fruita and laid carpet at night until he was able to support his family working on motorcycles. The success of the business led to the purchase of the Harley-Davidson dealership in 1984 later known as McDonald Harley-Davidson, which he owned until 1996. The sale of the dealership allowed him to purchase his dream, a ranch in DeBeque. He also purchased and operated a multi-unit apartment complex in Grand Junction. He enjoyed sharing his life with his family, close friends, and most of all, his five children. He cherished ranching and hunting with McCade, Stephanie, Darrell, and Megan.
He enjoyed working hard and living life to the fullest. There was nothing he wouldn't do for the people he loved.
He left behind his mother, Joan Hyland; brothers, Daniel (Valinda) and Doug; children, Stephanie (Adam), Darrell, McCade, and Megan; grand-children, Ashley, Levi, and Cassidy. He was preceded in death by his brother Darrell Lee McDonald; his father, Geo. Elmer McDonald; his daughter, McKenna McDonald; and his step-father, Leo Hyland.
There will be no service. If you would like to make a donation in his honor, Wounded Warriors and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundations were his favorites
He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
