Diana Norene Pierce was born November 24, 1942 and died on May 1, 2017. She was 74 years old.
Diana grew up in Eads, Colorado with her family. Diana’s family and neighbors would get together and have their own church service. Back in 1974, population was approximately 794 people and everyone was spread out. She graduated from Eads High School and enjoyed her High School reunions every year. Through the years she took pleasure in keeping in touch with those she graduated with. Diana continued her education going to college in Washington State.
When she came back to Colorado she started working for Geico as a secretary where she later retired. Then, worked for Mobile Premix and with Shorties Plumbing right before moving to Delta, Colorado. Diana kept the books for her husband’s business for years as well.
Diana met her future husband Aubrey Dale Pierce on a bowling league. Diana did not have her own children, but she gladly and whole heartedly claimed Sharon Pierce and Debbie Pierce Nelson as her own. She was the grandest, greatest and most loving stepmother you could ever ask for in the whole world. It is hard to put into words how much she meant to us and how much we absolutely loved her and will miss her because she is so much more than words can describe. She loved her grandchildren (Zachary and Monica) and great grandchildren (Edis, Lizzy, Abby, Hannah, Makayla) just as much. Bob Nelson was her only son-in-law and they relished their special times together.
Even after moving to Delta, Diana stayed busy. She loved to take care of her animals and she volunteered at the train museum in Delta, and cleaned houses for various people who no longer could do it for themselves. She loved interacting with people and made many friends of whom she treasured. Diana also adored going to plays with her friends. They would get together and do crafts, can vegetables/fruits and much more. She did that until 4 years ago when she was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. Life slowed down for her because the chemo made her tired. She survived it until it came back after her husband passed away a year ago. She only had one more year of her chemo medication to go and she would have been declared cancer free. Diana Norene Pierce will be remembered and enormously missed.
