Donna Jean Garlitz, 81, of Fruita/Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away on September 29, 2023, in Grand Junction. She was born on October 8, 1941, in Montrose, Colorado. Donna was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Donna is survived by her daughter Tammy, son Gerald "Jerry," and daughter-in-law Glenda. She was preceded in death by her husband James "Jim," father Emmitt "Mitch" Roy, mother Leone Roy, and sister Lois.
Donna attended Appleton School and later graduated from Grand Junction High School. She furthered her education at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Donna dedicated 36 years of her life as Secretary to the Board of Directors at the Grand Valley Drainage District (Grand Junction Drainage District). She also worked at the Lower Valley Fire Department office and Valley West Plumbing.
In her free time, Donna enjoyed fabric painting, quilting, and reading. She found great joy and relaxation in these hobbies.
A memorial service will be held on October 14, 2023, at 10:00 am at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, located at 2515 Patterson Rd in Grand Junction.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Family Health West Foundation or Hope West Hospice.
