Dorothy May (Hill) Egender

Memorial Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday August 19, 2017 at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary, 2515 Patterson Road, Grand Junction, CO 81505.

Dorothy was born in Malad City, Idaho to Leah and Wilford Hill on January 14, 1923. She and her family moved to Larned, Kansas when she was about 5 years old, and from there to Nucla, Colorado when she was about 12 years old. It was there that she met and married Charles R Egender on June 26, 1949. They were happily married for 54 years. She and her family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1965. Dorothy was an avid reader, word puzzle solver and card player. She had a strong interest in history and was a committed wife, mother and grandmother. She survived being born two months premature and thrived for 94 years. Dorothy was petite in stature but had extraordinary strength and determination. She was loved and will be greatly missed.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Charles Egender, her two brothers Harvey Hill and Wilford Hill and her sister Minnie (Hill) Thomson.

Dorothy is survived by her son David C. Egender (Deborah), daughter Vicki L. Williams (Terry), granddaughters McKenzie D. (Egender) Kirkpatrick (Cody), April A. (Williams) Bell, Julia L. Williams and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, Dorothy requested that donations be given in her name to the Nucla Public Library, 544 Main Street, Nucla, CO 81424.
