He joined the Navy. The girl from Rapid Creek was ready for adventure. She

forth across the country from Great Lakes, Il to California and Alaska to Hawaii
and many points in between. She had 8 children, John Moss(deceased), Marie Hall

Dorothy was devoted to her family. She was our loving Mother and our
“adventure coordinator”, ensuring we absorbed the culture and fun in all the new
cities. Not only did she ensure that her children were comfortable in our new
homes, but she also took many young families under her wing, assisting them in
assimilating into military life. She was very outgoing and made long lasting
friends wherever she went. She was very active in military spouses and church
organizations. Her motto in a new duty station was to first find a church and then
scope out all of the fun activities.
The family retired from the Navy in 1969, returning home to her beloved peaches
in Palisade and to be closer to family and friends. Dotti didn’t rest in retirement.
She used her skills, honed by raising seven children, and became the first Activity
Director at The Palisade Nursing Home. She was a pioneer in creating
organizations and regulations that would become legislation concerning the
welfare and rights of the elderly in Colorado. She was also instrumental in
developing programs and regulations for the developmentally disabled while
working for The Community Training Center. Dotti and Ralph divorced in 1979.
Dotti married Glen R. Green (deceased)of Grand Junction, CO in 1985. Glen was
the love of her life. They enjoyed the large family and many great adventures.
After accumulating 40 years raising all of their children, they retired to a beautiful
cabin in Molina, CO. They enjoyed rocking on the porch swing, praying and
welcoming the many friends and family. Along with the love of her life, her family
grew to include 14 stepchildren, 23 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Dotti
and Glen enjoyed their retirement in the shadow of the Grand Mesa until Glen’s
passing in 2012.
After Glen’s passing, Dotti spent the next few years travelling to each of her
children’s homes enjoying the ever-growing family and friends. She hung up her
traveling shoes and made her new home, The Commons at Hilltop at the young age
of 90. As was her custom, she found her place in her new community. She
embraced all that her new home had to offer, participated in many activities,
making friends with everyone and became an active leader. She became fast
friends with the “Cool Girls”, Donna, Patta, and Charlene.
The most important thing about our mother is her unshakable faith in our Lord,
Jesus Christ. The love of God was the center of her world. She spent many days
praying for her entire family, placing our individual names in front of our
Heavenly Father. As it was she and Glen’s practice to sit on the porch swing and
pray for every child, grandchild, great-grandchild, all their spouses and significant
others. A practice she kept up until she left this world. She leaves a legacy of faith
and service to us all and we will miss her terribly….until we meet again.
