Elsie Willson
March 4, 1913 - August 22, 2014
Funeral services for Elsie Willson, age 101, will be at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. Burial will be in Thomas, Oklahoma.
She was born to pioneers, Dick and Susan Cordes, on the family farm. She was the seventh of eight children. Working hard on the family farm kept her strong and healthy all her life.
She married YC Lee Asking in 1935. Two daughters were born to this union, Mary Sue in 1939, and Wilma Lee in 1941. YC passed away suddenly in 1942, from a heart attack. She married again in 1943, to Levi Willson. To this union a daughter, Alice Marie, was born in 1944. Moving frequently, following construction jobs was adventurous; many states were seen, many friendships were made along the way. Retiring and moving back to Oklahoma, living in the country on land left to her by her parents, was an enjoyable time.
She was active in Rebekas, Home Extension, Quilting Club, and Vicksburg Church.
Levi passed away in 1985, and Elsie continued to live on the farm until 1995, when she moved to Grand Junction to be close to family.
She is survived by her daughters, Sue Riggs of Rock City, WY; Wilma (Floyd) Chandler, Grand Junction, CO, and Marie (Ron) Woods of Crestwell, OR; grandchildren, Donna (Frank) Goetz, and Crystal DeLancy of Rock Springs, WY; Ed (Brenda) Chandler, Grand Junction, CO; Sherry (Curtis) Daniel of Chickamauga, GA; Penny Eaton of Grand Junction, CO, and Gary (Belle) Woods, Arlington, VA; 15 great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her three brothers, and four sisters, and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mantey Heights Rehab and Care Center, 2825 Patterson Rd., Grand Junction, CO 81506 or a charity of your choice .
