Kuta-Treadwell
February 14, 1940 - May 26, 2014
Georgia Kuta-Treadwell, 74, of Fruita, died May 26.
She was born in Loup City, Nebraska, February 14, 1940, to Adam and Mary Nosal Kuta. The family moved to Hotchkiss, Colorado, in 1953, where she graduated in 1957.
In 1963, she married Fred Davis, of Fort Worth; they divorced in 1970. Georgia married R.L. ""Bud"" Rather in Reno in 1972; he died in 1995. In 1998, Georgia married Hal Treadwell in Las Vegas; he died in 2004 in Fruita.
The Treadwells moved from Albuquerque to Western Colorado, ""God's Country"", as she called it, and settled in Fruita in 1999. She developed an extremely close friendship with Phyllis and Bob Jones. Over the last few years, she reconnected with Fred Davis and they shared a special friendship.
Her interests included photo-scrapbooking, genealogy, and especially her Schnauzers. She is survived by her ""daughter"", Kobi. Because she had no children of her own, she was passionately involved in the lives of her numerous nieces, and nephews and their children. Georgia was a diehard fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, Colorado Rockies and Avalanche. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
She is survived by five sisters and two sisters-in-law, Lynne (H.E.) Rozmiarek, Pueblo, CO; Rita (Lee) Mendyk, Winona, MN; Dodie (Rick) Dickerson, Belmont, CA; Marian Novak, San Antonio, TX; Kathy (Marv) Klaes, Middleburg, FL; Betty (Ernie) Kuta, and Jacque (Dick) Kuta, both of Delta, CO. In addition, she is survived by 35 nieces and nephews, 55 great-nieces and nephews, and 31 great-greats.
She was preceded in death by her parents; several nieces and nephews, and three brothers, A.J. ""Jack"" Kuta and his wife, Pat; Ernie Kuta, and Dick Kuta.
Cremation has taken place. Family and close friends will celebrate Georgia's life in a private gathering on Saturday, May 31.
Callahan-Edfast Funeral Home made arrangements. Donations may be made in Georgia's name to Roice-Hurst Humane Society, POB 440, Grand Junction, CO 81502, or to an animal shelter of your choice.
