She was born in Jennings, Kansas to Horace I. Scott and Lena M. Logue (Scott, Daley)
The second of 14 children. The family moved to the Grand Junction area when she was 7 years old. She attended area schools and graduated in 1948 from Central High School.
Their three children survive them: Kathy Bauer (Harley), Columbia, MO, Diane O'Neal (Jack), Grand Junction, CO, Dan Phipps, her 'little boy blue' (DeAnn) Grand Junction, CO. along with six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Gerry is also survived by her sister, Sharon Hill (Dwight) of Grand Junction, CO along with many nieces and nephews. Her parents, 12 siblings, a great grandson and Ray preceded her in death.
Gerry was immediately recognizable for her big blonde hair and large framed gold glasses. Before and shortly after Kathy was born she worked at Mountain Bell as a telephone operator plugging in calls between parties. A strong, private person, she provided encouragement and support and as long as she was able, attended as many of her children's and grandchildren's sporting events as possible. Their home was the gathering place for Thanksgiving, and Christmas celebrations and delicious dinners she would prepare. She and dad loved having picnics and easter egg hunts in the parks.
We would all pile into the back of the pickup or later the motorhome to go watch the fireworks shows every July. Everytime the grandkids would say goodbye her farewell was almost always "See you later alligator".
Gerry and Ray enjoyed traveling and taking golfing trips with friends. The cabin on Grand Mesa and houseboat on Lake Powell were places of relaxation with family, friends and for fishing. They spent many hours watching the Broncos and Rockies play in person and on TV.
Special thank you to all the staff of the MLS Senior Care Facility and the Hospice nurses and staff who cared so gently for her.
