Germaine Ellison

August 30, 1919 – January 11, 2011

Germaine Ellison passed away January 11, 2011 at the Sunrise Creek Assisted Living Center in Montrose, CO, she was 91.

Germaine was born on August 30, 1919 in Coello, IL from the union of John and Henrietta (Libert) Gosse. She spent her childhood in Vailer, IL and graduated from Vailer High School. She married Thomas Edward Ellison in Keokuk, Iowa in 1938; he preceded her in death in 1985 at Grand Junction, CO.

Germaine had previous lived in Peoria, IL and Olathe, CO, she was a Montrose resident for the past five years. She was a waitress for a time but was always a caregiver and homemaker to her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Vailer, IL since she was baptized at the age of twelve. She found great enjoyment in cooking and special memories were made while bowling and traveling. She was a member of the Peoria Motorcycle Club and enjoyed riding motorcycles with her husband and friends.

Germaine leaves behind three sons; Mark Edward Ellison of Brimfield, IL, Roger David Ellison of Colorado Springs, CO and Loren Allen Ellison of Delta, CO, a daughter; Phyllis Schmider of Peoria, IL, a sister; Marguerite Peterson of Longmont, CO, eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas and two brothers; Andrew Gosse and Jean Gosse and a grandson, Rodney Schmider

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Martin Mortuary, 550 North Avenue, Grand Junction, CO with burial to follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Grand Junction, CO.
