

James Edward Hayes, 47, of Grand Junction, died unexpectedly on August 28, 2016. Born in Crystal City, Missouri on February 11, 1969, he moved to Grand Junction with his family in September 1979 and graduated from Central HS/R-5. In 1999, he started his own company, Dun-Rite Painting.
A caring and sensitive family man, Jim was well liked by all. Family and friends were always his top priority. On many occasions, he would drop whatever he was doing to lend a friend or family member a hand. Most recently his world revolved around his granddaughter, Kyla-Anne. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed camping, dirt bike riding, hiking and target shooting.
Jim is survived by his son, Kyle Edward Hayes of Grand Junction and granddaughter Kyla-Anne Elisabeth Hayes of Grand Junction. Other survivors include his brothers, Peter (Kelli) Hayes of Aurora, CO, Steve (Laurie) Hayes of St. Petersburg, FL, and sister Cecilia (Garrett) Grimm of Freeport, FL.; nieces Jessica Hayes of Centennial, CO, Megan Hayes of Centennial, CO and Erica Kapreilian of Panama City, FL, ; nephews, Gregory Dietz of Pensacola, FL and Corey Hayes St. Petersburg, FL, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his father, Lawrence Edward (Eddie) Hayes and his mother, Josephine Ann (JoAnn) (Wilson) Hayes.
A memorial service and celebration of life has been planned for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24th, 2016 at Martin Mortuary 550 North Avenue, Grand Junction, CO 81501 followed by a graveside service at Orchard Mesa Cemetery 2620 Legacy Way, Grand Junction, CO 81503.
