

Jeanne W. Covey, age 93 years, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Mantey Heights Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. Mrs. Covey was born in Dallas, Texas on September 6, 1924 to the late Guy R. Woodard and Margaret Lewis Woodard. She spent her childhood between Texas and California and graduated from Tolar High School in Tolar, Texas and earned a degree in business from the Dallas Metropolitan Business School. On April 30, 1944, she married her beloved husband, William T. Covey in San Marcos, Texas. Throughout their life together, they lived in Texas, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Wyoming, and in 1957, settled in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was a charter member of Bookcliff Baptist Church where she devoted her gifts and talents in a variety of volunteer positions. She retired as a receptionist from Grand Valley Rural Power after 20 years of service.
Jeanne was very proud of her Texas heritage and enjoyed sharing her love of southern cooking, sewing, reading, traveling and gardening. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Denver Bronco fan. Momma was a sweet southern lady whose heart overflowed with grace and generosity. Her faith was an inspiration to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and integrity.
Mrs. Covey was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 65 years, William T. Covey; her sister, Peggy W. Sprinkle; and her brother Guy R. Woodard. Survivors include her daughters, Karen (the late Jack) Hunt of Grand Junction and Candy (Rick) Brodel of Grand Junction; her granddaughters Jenny (Steve) Day and Stacey (Brad) Cummins; and her great-grandchildren Tyler and Ryan Day, Bailee and Cloey Campbell, and Cole Cummins.
At Jeanne's request, a graveside service will be held for the family where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
