Joe Ben Rivera

Joe Abenicio Rivera passed away at the age of 79 on April 27, 2012 at his home in Grand Junction with his loving family by his side.

Joe “Ben” was born to Bonifacio and Josephine (Trujillo) Rivera in Capulin, CO on March 16, 1933. He married Frieda Trujillo in 1961, and together they had three children. Ben enjoyed the outdoors, his family, and hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Frieda of Grand Jct, CO. Daughters: Diana (Glen) Dixon of West Yellowstone, MT, and Velma (Martin Prieto) Sandoval of Grand Jct, CO. His step-son Chris Trujillo of Denver, CO. Brothers: Leo and Ernie Rivera both of Denver, CO; Michael Rivera of Pueblo, CO, and Richard Rivera of Virginia. Sisters: Lucy Rodriguez and Tina Bennett, both of Denver, CO. and his most treasured dog Fraser.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Aurelio and Elijo Rivera

A Rosary Service will be held at St. Joseph’s Church Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 10:30 am. Funeral Mass will immediately follow and conclude with graveside services at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at MartinMortuary.com
