Daddy died very, very peacefully.
We want to thank Judith Shue for her loving support & care of our dad, and family, and also Hope West Hospice, especially Rikki, RN and Rayna, CNA.
At the age of 18, daddy became a proud member of the United States Army, and would often reminisce about his time in basic training, and being stationed over seas, in Germany.
He left the Army with an Honorable Discharge, and rank of Sergeant.
Joe married Maxine Boothe in August of 1963, and they spent 47 years together.
Joe was a Supervisor at the State Home & Training School (now the Grand Junction Regional Center) for 27 1/2 years. He retired there.
Daddy was a kind man, who taught his children & grand children the meaning of respect, and a good education.
He always wanted the best for us, and he loved our mother with all of his heart, caring for her for 13 years, in our family home, after dementia stole her away.
Before mama’s illness, Joe & Maxine loved to travel to Reno, NV most summers, enjoying their train trips.
Daddy loved working in his yard, playing poker, and dancing!
He was well known for his jitterbug and smooth two step with mama, and his Texas Hold ‘Em game.
He LOVED family get togethers, and watching the Denver Broncos.
He is going to be missed more than we can even imagine.
We love you forever (mas mas mas) daddy.
