Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Anderson of Fruita, and Helen Wirth of Phoenix; four sons, Vernon Dickey Sr. of Phoenix, Irv Dickey of Grand Junction, Gary Dickey of Florissant, and Vernon Dickey Jr. of Rock Springs, Wyoming; two sisters, Dorothy Taylor of Denver, and Mary Taylor of Arvada; 10 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and nine great great-grandchildren.

Josephine Elizabeth Taylor Dickey passed away at St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado on February 2, 2016.
Josephine was born to William and Helen Taylor on Christmas day in 1923 in Grand Junction, Colorado. She spent her childhood in Grand Junction and became a Teacher’s Aide for School District 51. In 1939 she married John R. Dickey and together they had 5 children and one adopted child. Josephine enjoyed visiting National Parks (especially Grand Mesa), watching football games, western’s, and Bible Study at Handy Chapel Church. She was a member of RSVP, AARP, and the CMU Cultural Advisory Committee.
Josephine is survived by her children, Barbara (Bernie) Anderson of Fruita, CO; Vernon Dickey Sr. of Phoenix, AZ; Irv (Leanne) Dickey of Grand Junction, CO; Helen Wirth of Phoenix, AZ; Gary (Rebecca) Dickey of Florissant, CO; Vernon Dickey Jr. of Rock Springs, WY; and her son/nephew Larry J. Taylor of Denver, CO. She is also survived by sisters, Dorothy Taylor of Denver, CO, and Mary Taylor of Arvada, CO; 10 Grandchildren, 32 Great- Grandchildren, and 9 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, February 6, at 11AM at Canyon View Vineyard Church. Josephine always used to say “Give me flowers while I’m living”. Memorial contributions can be made to the Handy Chapel Building fund, 202 White Ave. Grand Junction, CO, or do something kind for a child in need.
The family of Josephine Elizabeth Taylor Dickey would like to thank everyone for the love and support shown during the loss of our loved one. We appreciate the many people who worked tirelessly by providing and serving food for the family, sending cards, and participating in the celebration of Grandma Dickey's life.
We know that our loved one will be missed forever, but she will live in the hearts of all who shared their grief with us.
