Joyce Allen

October 14, 1934 - November 4, 2016

Joyce Allen passed away November 4, 2016 at the HopeWest Hospice Care Center, she was 82.

Joyce was born on October 14, 1934 in Phoenix, Arizona from the union of Orin and Naomi Childers. She grew up in the Ft. McDowell, Arizona area and graduated High School in Mesa, Arizona.

Joyce was introduced to Floyd Edward Allen, Jr. by his cousin; they later married on June 21, 1953 and would spend fifty-seven years of marriage together. Floyd preceded her in death on December 29, 2010 in Fruita. The family moved to the Gateway area from 1966-1973 before moving to the Fruita area.

Joyce was a rancher’s wife and homemaker by heart and enjoyed working for Grady Veterinary Clinic for twenty-one years.

She was a Lioness with the Lions Club and enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Family and friends will always remember her dinner rolls and family famous cinnamon rolls, that you couldn’t eat just one. In her later years she enjoyed being a member of the Senior Center Community in Fruita and loved her household animals; Chili the dog and Buddy the cat.

Joyce leaves behind her three children; two sons; James Edward Allen of Raton, NM, Billy John Allen of Palisade, Colorado and a daughter; Juddah Raine of Loma, Colorado, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Martin Mortuary.
