Kenton, son of Lucille and Joseph Shaw, passed away on February 11, 2026, from MDS Leukemia. He was 71. Kenton was born in Denver, Colorado, but grew up in Durango, Colorado. He graduated from Fort Lewis College with a degree in Geology in 1976. He married Donna Lee Myers and they have one daughter, Katherine Shaw. They later divorced.
Kenton moved to Grand Junction, CO in the 90's. He retired from Mays Concrete Inc. in 2020 after 34 years. He also dedicated many hours of trail work and grooming to the Grand Mesa Nordic Council.
Kenton was a quiet and kind man who always stopped to say hello when he was grooming and anyone skiing could always count on him for information on trail conditions. His love for skiing as a kid followed him through his life, whether it was downhill or cross-country. He also loved photography, fly fishing, cycling and taking long walks with his dog Fletcher Red. He was a true explorer.
Kenton met his wife Sarah on the Grand Mesa while skiing and they became good friends and married in 2008. They had many wonderful adventures doing road trips and traveling abroad. He also did several road trips with his daughter Katie. Kenton was a loving husband and father.
Kenton is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by wife Sarah Shaw, daughter, Katherine Shaw, sister, Shirley Drover (Greg), Mary Ann Keiss (Chris), 8 nieces and nephews and 11 great-nieces and nephews.
At Kenton's request, no services will be held.
Sarah would like to extend love and gratitude to everyone who has reached out and supported her through this difficult time.
