Lillie Celina Wood

Lillie Celina Wood, 82 of Montrose passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at the Courtyard Care Center in Fruita. She was a resident of Montrose for 53 years.

She was born May 29, 1934 in McPhee, CO. the daughter of Francisco and Ester (Gomez) Montano. She spent her childhood in southwest Colorado and graduated from Ouray High School.

Lillie married Norman Wood on May 7, 1955 in Ouray, CO., and he survives her. She was a homemaker for most of her life, and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

Lillie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Montrose. She was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed playing cards, bowling and crossroad puzzles.

Survivors include her husband Norman of Fruita, CO; daughters Cindi and (Randy) Stringer of Grand Junction, Sheila and (Don) Pierce of Elizabeth, CO.; sisters Cecelia Harvey of Ouray, CO. and Anna Claire Baca of Montrose, CO; brothers Frank Montano of Lakewood, CO, Manuel Montano of Denver, CO, Eduardo Montano of Heredia, Costa Rico and Mark Montano of Westminster, CO; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and brother.

A rosary service will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at 7:30 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 330 White Avenue in Grand Junction. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 AM also at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
