Lori Ann Schultz passed away peacefully on the evening of February 17th in her home in Whitewater. She was 58-years-young and God called her home too soon. Funeral arrangements will be managed by Martin Mortuary.
Lori was born on June 12, 1965, in Denver, Colorado, the eldest daughter of Fred David Smith, Jr., and Alice Lee (Garner) Smith. She grew up in the hills of Evergreen, Colorado, where she first found her love of nature and the outdoors. She attended Bergen Elementary School and Evergreen High School. She also attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction. She was always passionate about many things, even as a young lady. She loved photography, meeting new people, making friends, and was always up for an adventure. She always found the beauty in everything she touched. She was cherished by those who knew her, and anyone who met her could not help but instantly feel like a longtime friend.
When Lori was 19 years old, she met David Schultz who was 17, and he immediately fell head over heels in love with her. She was, and always will be, his “hummingbird”. They married on February 16, 1991, and were blessed with three beautiful children, Ashley, Taylor, and Angela. She loved being a mother and grandmother more than anything else in the world. She doted on each of her children and grandchildren and showered them with love and kindness. She excelled at being a mother and all three of her children have grown up to be amazing adults and wonderful parents to their own children. She had a close relationship with all of her children and grandchildren until her final hours. Lori loved the outdoors and spent summers having family barbecues, floating the Colorado River, camping, fishing, and hiking with her family. Winters were often spent sledding or skiing at Powderhorn with her husband, children and extended family. Everything she did in life surrounded experiences and fun with her loved ones.
Anyone who met Lori was a better person for knowing her. She had a light and a fire inside of her that no one could deny. Friends and family lovingly say that they always knew what Lori was thinking, whether they liked it or not! She left us all with mountains of wonderful memories. She had a contagious smile and could always make everyone laugh. Those of us who were blessed to know her will all have an empty place in our hearts. She will truly be missed.
