We remember Louis James Peters lll, whose spirit departed from us on August 19, 2025, at the age of 75. Lou, a beacon of unwavering friendship, love and kindness, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Lou was born in Denver, Colorado on March 20, 1950 to parents Beulah and Louis Peters Jr. Following high school, he bravely enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served with honor as a hospital corpsman for four years. Following his military service, Lou transitioned into a successful career in sales where his charisma and discipline earned him many accolades and most importantly, the regard and adoration from colleagues and customers alike.
Lou had a successful 22 year career at Western Slope Auto, where buying a car from him also meant you were gaining a friend. He established lifelong connections and made everyone he encountered feel special. He genuinely loved going to work and spending his days with coworkers turned family and customers turned friends. Through his quick wit and playful humor, he illuminated the dealership.
Lou’s greatest happiness, however, was his family. He married the love of his life, Helen, in 1987 and together they combined their families consisting of children, Tricia, Lori, Matt and Jenny and later welcomed daughter, Katie. Lou’s love for his family was deep and unwavering. The doting grandfather of 15, could often be found in his favorite armchair, softly rocking a grandchild to sleep with a quiet comfort only he could provide, proudly exclaiming “it’s the tummy.” A constant source of support, he attended nearly every school concert, soccer practice and baseball game. He will be remembered by his family as a goofy, playful, loving father and grandfather, whose warmth and light-hearted spirit brought joy to every moment.
One of Lou’s favorite pastimes was exploring the world hand-in-hand with his beloved wife, Helen. Together, they shared countless adventures, especially on sun-soaked beaches where he found peace and happiness. Whether walking along the shoreline at sunrise, discovering new cuisines or exploring the beauty of the world around him, he cherished every moment; not just for the places they visited but for the memories they created together.
Lou made the world a better, kinder and funnier place and although he is gone, the ripples of his generous heart and cheerful spirit will carry on. The lessons he left us-to love hard, laugh loudly and never take life too seriously, will live on in every heart he touched.
Lou is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Jr and Beulah, sister, Charlene, and grandson, Nicholas. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Helen, his loving children, Tricia, Lori, Matt (Casey), Jenny (Keith) and Katie (Josh) and adoring grandchildren, Sara, Jasmine, Morgan (Cristy), Anthony, Jake (Tayler), Cory (Jordan), Makaylah, Callie (Caden), Madi (Mark), Lexi, Tyler, Crosby, Rowan and Maya and great-grandchildren, Alexander, Miley and Maisey and his faithful dog, Cooper.
A celebration of life will be held at Canyon View Vineyards Church Chapel on August 28, 2025 at 6:00 pm. A reception and light refreshments will be provided following the service.
As we remember an extraordinary man, the family asks you to honor his memory by sharing a joke, an act of kindness or moment of joy with someone who needs a little bit of Lou in their lives.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made through charitable donations to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
