Lucy spent most of her life in Grand Junction. She was married to Jim Burns for 61 years. He preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 2010. Together, they raised four children — Tim, Pamela, Terri (Coakley), and Chris.
She is survived by her children as well as 10 grandchildren — Andrea Kilcherman and Nicholas Burns; Jamie Schnell, Caramie Petrowsky and Ryan Schnell; Brandon Coakley, Matthew Coakley, and Jenna Coakley; Casey Burns and Kylie Heinsma. She had 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Robert Jonick, and her sister, Shirley Cushnie.
Lucy had a deep love for her family, and she was always surrounded by her beautiful flower beds and her many pets over the years. Known as "Grandma Lucy," her legacy will be cherished by all who knew her.
Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her name to the animal humane society of your choice.
