Hey Mike, I am watching the USC  vs. UCLA game now and thought of you. I am remembering us playing linebackers for Bell High school. Nobody could get past us. Next time we met at Washington state university football stadium , Where we were playing against each other. I went through the 5 and a half years program to finish my degree. We were lucky to receive a free college education for playing football. 
    I am now 64 years.old. I was.just.thinking of you. It's been a long time. I just wanted to throw.out some.thoughts of you while watching the Ucla game.  John West

I remember walking home from high school with Mike after football practice, I looked up to him and I admired his qualities, just the little time we spent together made me a better student athlete, I'm sure everyone who crossed paths with Mike felt this same way. Rest in Peace Gentle Giant.

Mike, you were the best architectural professors I ever known and always brought the life to the class it was a great honor to be a graduate from Intellitec college. I will surely miss you and always will remember you!

I didn' t know you very well but every time I saw you, you were smiling or laughing with Mr. Burke.  You will be missed so very much by a whole lot of people whose lives you touched.

Coach Mike, I only knew you for a couple of short years, but what I did know about you coach Mike was that you were a caring man who wanted to help others, share his knowledge with others, a passion for teaching and coaching and someone with genuine patience needed to share those qualities with others. The Grand Junction Gladiators football organization and my family will never forget the time that you spent helping a group of 40 misfit football players prepare for the past two seasons. Mr. Mahan ,  you will be missed greatly. You made class fun , talking about cars , union pipe fitting jobs , women and especially politics . It was great when you would kick a box or two and throwing those big paper balls, and laughing with your big haaa's about it, good times my friend , good times . You're in a better place and we are the ones left here suffering . You're a big man with the biggest heart ever . Thank you so much for being a great instructor , and a great friend . Mike's deep laughter walking thru the door after football games with Tony to see what Cuban food my mom had cooked is what I'll remember! He was strong yet sensitive in his Mike Mahan way. I remember going with my sister to give him a good luck hug the night before the ROSE BOWL! He told us he knew the Bruins would win & they did! Mike, you were a champion to us on and off the field.  I only wish we could be there in Colorado to hug his mom and family to let them know - we will never forget Mike. God bless you all.

Mike it was such a pleasure working with you. I will always remember your genuine kind personality.  You were a great inspiration to so many students..I pray your family finds comfort  and that you rest in peace. You will be missed by many!

The world has lost a little more light.  Michael was kind hearted and had a wonderful laugh, it was honest and genuine. It's hard to lose someone so strong and so gentle. My life has been better by his friendship and he will always bring a smile to my face. Thank you Michael...

Mike was one of the nicest person we knew. My daughters and wife met him a couple of years ago and really liked him. He will be missed. God be with you, my friend.

Michael J Mahan, My brother Steve Hassien was a teammate of his with the Ball High Eagles. I had became a friend of him because of that reason but mike did not look at it that way he ever referred to me as steves little  brother. Mike was an intimidating figure in and out of his uniform but once he stepped off that field the BIG GUY was a kind and funny young  man even the parents were in awe of him and not because of his size or his god gifted and hard work ability for the game. But as a young man who carries his self very well. And after reading some message Mike took it to the Next level and like the way it should be there will be great young men out there. Because of Michael J Mahan. We will miss our dear friend and if anyone who has a son playing ball or if you are coaching please carry his name with those kids.

Hey big man, now you can play football with the best of the best athletes. Thank you for teaching me to be a rocking athletic trainer,I couldn't had done it without you. Keep smiling and help watch over my daughter Daisy and I. Your in our thoughts and prayers. We love you Mike.

Mike was amazing guy and I feel so blessed to have known him. Mike had a way of making work more fun as tossed paper balls out of his classroom at those passing by.

Mike. You were more than just a mentor to me. You took me under your wing and showed me what it is to care about our students and show them pride in our fields. I remember going into your classroom and drawing X's and O's on your whiteboard. You'd tell me "NO! that wont work" "Do this and it will though" Man if only I could talk football with you one more time. I miss you brother.

Hello, Mike.  Thank you for being a strong influence in the program supervisor team.  Thank you for buying all those tacos for our lunch meetings.  Thank you for walking me to my car late at night and for being a positive influence on your students.  You will be missed.

Im so grateful to have some great memories of Mike. Always there when I needed help or just a hug. Fishing and just going for a drive. My kids really liked him and enjoyed when we got to spend time with him. Mike you will be greatly missed and are so loved by many!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mike was a such a great man. He left many memories with his high school friends and he will be remembered in a loving way to all that knew him. We don't understand why god would take such a young life with so much more to do. But god is in control and here sent Mike to us to smile. He did his job on earth and now he is in gods arms. He will never feel pain again and never cry a unhappy tear. He has made his journey to the other side it is up to us here to make sure that we  live our lives so we make that same journey and see Mike again. I know the pain is unbearable and I pray that we will all the the faith that this pain shall pass, but our memoires of Mike will remain in our hearts forever. Until we meet again.
